Position Overview
KSA’s health care consultants work on multi-dimensional projects that demand functional knowledge and strong analytical, creative problem solving, and interpersonal skills. Representative projects include developing a corporate strategic plan for an academic medical center, creating an operational plan for a hospital outpatient clinic, and developing an information technology strategy for a community hospital. Responsibilities include:
- Working with client and KSA leaders to articulate strategic and tactical issues requiring attention and contributing to the development of processes and work plans to address those issues.
- Building an understanding of clients’ challenges and possible solutions by performing extensive analyses of marketplace, patient, financial, and other data, and facilitating problem-solving sessions with diverse client groups.
- Collaborating with client and KSA staff to develop and present findings and recommendations.
- Developing and sharing subject matter expertise regarding relevant industry segments (e.g., facilities planning, strategic planning, and information technology software selection).
- Contributing to practice advancement (e.g., recruiting, service development, and evolution of the body of knowledge).
As the consultant’s career progresses, he or she will be given a larger role in the management of projects, guiding other consultants and client staff in developing approaches to complicated issues.
Candidate Qualifications
- MHA, MBA, or an advanced degree in a related discipline such as industrial engineering or architecture
- Two to five years of experience in a health care setting or related environment; experience in finance or strategic management, health care management, facility/operational planning, and/or information technology can be particularly valuable
- Distinctive academic performance and leadership experience
- Energy and passion for serving clients, continual learning, professionalism, and personal resilience
- A desire and willingness to be an eventual owner of the firm
- Keen problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated verbal and written interpersonal skills; facilitation and negotiation skills
- Extensive literacy with spreadsheet and presentation software
- Ability to work in the United States with unlimited work authorization
Location and Travel
At this time we have opportunities for consultants in KSA’s Atlanta, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, and San Francisco offices. Travel to client sites averages 30% to 50% of business days.
